A social enterprise established by SK in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as the local governments of North Gyeongsang Province and the city of Andong. It develops cultural assets by revitalizing old traditional houses and villages with high historical, academic, and artistic values. It's goal is to continue and improve traditional culture.
As a main project, it's managing old house themed resort Gurume, opened in July 2014. The project started in order to preserve old houses that faced the crisis of submersion due to the construction of a dam.
To overcome the prejudice about old houses being uncomfortable, we researched and cooperated with experts in architecture, marketing, and other areas to develop a resort that simultaneously satisfies both traditional beauty and convenience.
Gurume creates jobs for disadvantaged social groups while gaining the result of creation of an active local economy and contributing to the expansion of social value.
The Happy Traditional Village will continue to be a successful business model as a unique accommodation, opportunity for education and hands-on experience of traditions. It's aiming to attain traditional value and social value.
